Gabrielle M. Schroeder

I am a research software engineer from Newcastle upon Tyne with a passion for uncovering and communicating insights from complex data.

My interest in data analysis was sparked by working with genetics data as a biologist. In 2014, a Fulbright Postgraduate Award gave me the opportunity to transition to computational neuroscience. I now use my computational skills to develop data science and software solutions for a variety of research projects at Newcastle University; my work ranges from developing reproducible analytical pipelines to creating user interfaces for biomedical data analysis.

My broad experience lets me serve as a bridge between data, design, and engineering domains. My favourite projects let me combine rigourous analytical thinking with intentional design to transform messy data and ambiguous requirements into clear insights. I have a special interest in data visualisation, and I particularly enjoy finding creative ways to tell stories and explore challenging datasets.
